The skyhigh flock of pedigree Zwartbles sheep is owned by Mark and Jane
Shadwick and family based at Raughton near Carlisle in Cumbria.
The flock was established in 2004 with
the purchase of 22 ewes and 4 rams from the renowned Dutch flock of Bouwe
and Jaqueline Klok (NL20679). The 4 rams were all ARRARR and included our
senior stock ram IM20679-00618 ‘Rambo’. The females included all of their
very best ARRARQ ewes as they were making the change to ARRARR scrapie
status.
Ewe numbers are maintained at approximately 25 breeding ewes plus 6 to 8
ewe lambs retained as flock replacements. Surplus females are sold both
privately and at Zwartbles Association sales.
Showing is carried out on a limited basis and the Skyhigh flock has won
the breed championship at The Great Yorkshire, The Cumberland County,
Penrith and Dalston in recent years.
